AMPLIFICATION

Australia has the potential to be the best country in the world, but we know things aren’t working the way they should. So, we decided to do something about it and AMPLIFY was born.

Countries around the world are turning to new approaches to bring together community members and governments to discuss and make the decisions that affect their lives.

This is formally known as a 'deliberation'. Countries like Ireland, France, Belgium, Japan and Taiwan have used these approaches to tackle everything from end-of-life care to digital laws.

And it works. We know that.

Not just deliberation, AMPLIFICATION.

AMPLIFICATION is a unique process by which Australian’s can make our collective voice louder and stronger. This includes deliberation techniques and tools, but also incorporates innovative formats and processes to help our community find solutions for the biggest challenges we face.

Addressing the housing crisis: Australia’s first National Housing AMPLIFICATION

AMPLIFY is convening Australia’s first National Housing AMPLIFICATION that will find uncommon ground on housing reform. Reform that will help Australians get a fair go at housing affordability, housing security and housing choice.

The process will deliver a quantified and prioritised level of support for a set of housing reforms from a broadly representative group of Australians. AMPLIFY is driven by evidence and impact so the AMPLIFICATION will focus on evidence-based solutions that can provide a blueprint for action.

What's the process?

AMPLIFICATION innovates on a method maintained by Stanford University known as Deliberative Polling, which involves a representative microcosm of the population being polled before and after information and debate, to show how opinion shifts.

AMPLIFY’S process is already underway with contributions from renowned housing experts, respected think tanks and industry.

The first of two deliberations brings together 10 individuals, nationally recognised for being community minded and for their commitment to the public good, representing each state and territory. They will shortlist reforms submitted by housing experts, and the outcomes will be tested and shared back with the wider community.

The second deliberation will bring together a broadly representative group of 100 Australians to explore in-depth and give their considered judgement on reforms that best answer the question: How can Australians get a fair go at housing now and in the future?

They will have had the opportunity to hear different perspectives and learn about the reforms from housing experts, also representing different perspectives.

How do I get involved?

You can be part of the second deliberation.

Australians from all walks of life are invited to register their interest to become participants for the in-depth deliberation in February 2025:
